Mohs surgery requires a highly trained dermatologic surgeon. Our physicians are Fellows of the American College of Mohs Surgery, Diplomates of the American Board of Dermatology (Board Certified) and Fellows of the American Academy of Dermatology. They work together as a team with our staff to provide you with efficient and comprehensive care.

Robert E. Clark, MD, PhD

Dr. Clark was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He attended and graduated with honors from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. Dr. Clark earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his internship in the Department of Medicine in Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.  His dermatology residency and dermatologic surgery fellowship were completed at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.  Dr. Clark also holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the School of Chemical Sciences at the University of Illinois.

Dr. Clark was the Director of the Dermatologic Surgery & Cutaneous Oncology Unit and the Cosmetic Laser Center at Duke University Medical Center from 1990-1998. He is recognized as a leader in the field of dermatologic surgery, treatment of skin cancer, and laser surgery. He has lectured and trained physicians nationally and internationally in laser surgery and cosmetic procedures.

Dr. Clark has multiple interests including karate, classical music, hunting, and camping.

Adam Anthony Ingraffea, MD

Adam Ingraffea, MD, grew up in Ithaca, NY. Dr. Ingraffea graduated from Boston University with a bachelor's degree in Chemistry. He spent his 20's working as a polymer chemist in Connecticut and later in New York. He also spent several years living in Argentina and Bolivia where he taught English and Chemistry. The experience of living in a third world country inspired him to dedicate his life to helping those in need. He also developed a love for the Spanish language and Latino culture.

He studied medicine at the Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He graduated class valedictorian and was selected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He went on to complete a dermatology residency at the Boston University/Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, Rhode Island, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Ingraffea then moved to Cincinnati to train in Mohs surgery under the direction of Hugh Gloster, MD, at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

He served as an assistant professor of dermatology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine for five years. He was the associate program director for both the dermatology residency and Mohs surgery fellowships. He was also the director of the resident continuity clinic and Mohs surgery at the Cincinnati VA hospital. While at the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Ingraffea won many awards including Teacher of the Year in 2012. He was selected as a Best Physician in Cincinnati Magazine for three years in a row from 2013-2016. He is the author of 18 peer reviewed papers as well as multiple book chapters.

His clinical interests are in cutaneous oncology, Mohs surgery and facial reconstruction. He has performed over 10,000 cases of Mohs surgery.

He enjoys spending time with his wife Edith, who is a Pediatrician, and his two young children Alex and Elena. He loves outdoor activities such as golf, fishing, hunting and SCUBA diving.

Timothy C. Flynn, MD

Dr. Flynn was born and raised in Columbia, Missouri. He received his undergraduate and medical diplomas from the University of Missouri - Columbia. Dr. Flynn completed his internal medicine residency at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, and his dermatology residency at Stanford University where he was Chief Resident. Dr. Flynn’s Dermatologic and Mohs Micrographic Surgery fellowship was completed at Washington University in St. Louis. He has also been a research fellow at Harvard University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Flynn developed the Dermatologic Surgery and Mohs Micrographic Surgery program at Tulane University in New Orleans and served as its director from 1993-2001. He is currently a clinical professor for the Department of Dermatology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Flynn is acknowledged as an expert in skin cancer and dermatologic surgery, and is the immediate past president of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Flynn is recognized as a superb teacher, greatly in demand on a national and international basis. He is active in multiple dermatologic societies.

Dr. Flynn interests include music, cooking and bicycling. He and his wife Gina have two sons, Collin and Evan.

Our staff is comprised of a team of healthcare professionals that  have been carefully selected for their skills, achievements and their commitment to provide our patients with quality care and attention.  We are dedicated to ensuring you receive friendly, compassionate care, as well as information about your condition and treatment.

Amanda M. Hullett, Certified Physician Assistant

Amanda Hullett joins Cary Skin Center with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Jefferson College in Roanoke, Va. She also has a bachelor’s degree from Jefferson College of Health Sciences in Physician Assistant Studies.

She is a Diplomate member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. Amanda has been dermatologist-trained to diagnose and treat a wide variety of skin conditions and has been practicing dermatology for 10 years. She is proficient in American Sign Language.

In her leisure time, Amanda enjoys hiking, music, and working on her family's farm.

Wendy L. Jaget, Certified Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner

Wendy was born in New Jersey and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science from North Carolina State University and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Wake Technical Community College. She received her Master of Science Degree in Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Wendy has over 15 years’ experience as a registered nurse with the majority being in the field of dermatology and Mohs surgery. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Nurses Association and North Carolina Nurses Association.

Wendy enjoys riding her horses and hiking with her dog.

Shannon M. Craven, MS, Certified Physician Assistant

Shannon Craven has over 7 years of experience as a dermatologic physician assistant and has a Master of Health Science Physician Assistant studies from Mercer University, Atlanta, GA. and a Masters of Biological Science at Clemson University, Clemson, SC. She is a graduate of Francis Marion University, Florence, SC. Mrs. Craven has had experience as a Molecular Research Associate at Greenwood Genetic Center. She was also a teaching assistant at Clemson University where she was an instructor in a Science Inquiry Lab.

Mrs. Craven is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. Other memberships include the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Godsey-Matthews Society and the North Carolina Medical Society.

Outside of work, Mrs. Craven enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. Active in hiking, she has hiked the Foothills Trail in South Carolina and hiked some 523 miles of the Appalachian Trail.

The Cary Skin Center is conveniently located on the corner NC Highway 55 and High House/Green Level Road in Cary, NC. Our Pinehurst office is located at 5 Regional Circle, Suite C in Pinehurst, NC. We offer free on-site parking with easily accessible patient drop-off, Wi-Fi and comfortable patient lobby.

Our eco-friendly initiatives include utilizing an electronic medical records (EMR) and online patient registration system to reduce paper usage, installing a bio retention unit to remove pollutants from storm water runoff and protect the local watershed, and offering ceramic coffee mugs at our beverage station to reduce material waste.

Patients are seen on an appointment basis. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please provide 72 hours notice so that we may offer another patient the opportunity for an earlier appointment. Our offices will gladly reschedule your appointment. Cary clinic patients should call (919) 363-7546. If your appointment is in Pinehurst, please call (910) 295-1761.

The Cary Skin Center will make every effort to honor your appointment time. Emergencies do occur which may delay your scheduled appointment time. Our staff will keep you informed if the doctors will be delayed in seeing you. For urgent problems that require immediate attention, please call our office as early in the day as possible and ask to speak with a nurse. Based on your condition, we will make every effort to see you the day of your call.
