Timothy Flynn, MD, FAAD
Dr. Timothy C. Flynn is a nationally recognized leader in dermatologic surgery and the treatment of skin cancer. He brings decades of clinical expertise, academic leadership, and surgical innovation to Cary Skin Center.
Dr. Flynn was born and raised in Columbia, Missouri. He received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Missouri–Columbia. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by a dermatology residency at Stanford University, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed advanced fellowship training in Dermatologic Surgery and Mohs Micrographic Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis. In addition, Dr. Flynn has conducted research at both Harvard University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Flynn founded and developed the Dermatologic Surgery and Mohs Micrographic Surgery program at Tulane University in New Orleans, where he served as Director from 1993 to 2001. He currently serves as a Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he continues to teach and mentor the next generation of dermatologic surgeons.
Widely regarded as an expert in skin cancer and advanced dermatologic surgery, Dr. Flynn is a past president of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and is frequently invited to lecture and train physicians both nationally and internationally. He is known for his excellence in patient care, surgical precision, and dedication to advancing the field of dermatology.
Outside of his professional work, Dr. Flynn enjoys music, cooking, and bicycling. He and his wife, Gina, have two sons, Collin and Evan.
